The difficulty of the soup sealed lead-acid free battery is to electrolyse water during charging. When the charge reaches a certain voltage (usually 2.30V / unit), oxygen is released from the cathode of the shallow cell and the hydrogen is released from the negative electrode. On the one hand, the release of gas brings acid mist to pollute the environment. On the other hand, the moisture content in the electrolyte decreases, and additional moisture maintenance must be carried out regularly. Lead-acid maintenance free battery is a product developed to overcome these shortcomings.

(1) using many high quality raster alloys to increase the gas overpotential. That is to say, the ordinary gate grid alloy will release gas when it is above 2.30V / battery (25 degree C). When high quality multi-element alloy is used, the gas is released at 2.35V / unit (25 degree) or higher, so that the amount of gas released is relatively reduced.

(2) allow the negative electrode to have an excess capacity, that is, a capacity of more than 10% of the cathode. The oxygen released from the positive pole of the post charging stage contacts with the negative electrode and reacts to produce water, that is, O 2 + 2Pb, 2PbO + 2H, 2 SO 4, H 2 O + 2PbSO 4, so that the negative electrode is under the influence of oxygen, so no hydrogen is produced. This positive oxygen is absorbed by the negative lead wire, and then the process of synthesizing water, the so-called positive pole absorption.

(3) in order to make the oxygen released from the cathode to the negative electrode as soon as possible, a new type of ultrafine glass fiber diaphragm - acid battery, which is different from the microporous rubber diaphragm used in ordinary lead, is needed. The porosity increases from 50% of the rubber separator to more than 90%, so that oxygen can flow easily to the negative electrode and synthetic water can be reformed. In addition, the superfine glass fiber separator has the function of adsorbing sulfuric acid electrolyte, so even if the battery is injected, there will be no electrolyte overflow.

(4) adopt sealed valve control to filtrate acid structure to prevent acid mist escaping and achieve safety and environmental protection.

In the above-mentioned cathodic absorption process, the lead-acid maintenance free battery can be exempted from the extra electrolyte because the water produced in the sealing condition can not be spillover, which is the origin of the valve regulating seal as the non dimensional battery. However, the meaning of avoiding maintenance is not to do any maintenance.
