What causes the self discharge of Yuasa battery?

Yuasa  battery will discharge more or less during storage. For a normal storage battery, the electric energy capacity will be lost by about 1% ~ 2% every day, that is, for a fully charged storage battery, the electric energy capacity will be lost by about half for one month.

1、 Self discharge reason

1. There is grounding or short circuit outside the battery. When the lead out of Yuasa  battery is grounded with the body, or there are wrenches, iron wires and other conductors on the battery shell to connect the positive and negative electrodes, severe self discharge will occur and the electric energy will be discharged quickly. In addition, when there is spilled electrolyte on the battery shell and top cover, the positive and negative terminals can also be connected and discharged.

2. The storage electrode separator is corroded, perforated, damaged, or there is too much sediment under the positive and negative plates. At this time, the positive and negative plates are directly connected and short circuited, causing the internal self discharge of Yuasa  battery.

3. The electrolyte is impure, contains impurities, or is not pure water. At this time, the impurities in the electrolyte are attached to the electrode plate with the flow of the electrolyte. A certain potential difference is formed between the impurities, which will form many small batteries with their own paths in the battery, so that the Tangqian battery is often in a short circuit state. The test shows that if the electrolyte contains 1% iron, the battery will discharge all the electric energy within 24 hours after it is fully charged.

4. Yuasa  battery plate itself is impure and contains more impurities. It will also form many small batteries and discharge by itself.

5. Yuasa  Yuasa battery has been stored for too long. The water and sulfuric acid in the electrolyte are layered due to different specific gravity, so that the density of the electrolyte is small from top to bottom, forming a potential difference and discharging automatically.

2、 Preventive measures

1. Strengthen maintenance and keep the upper cover of the battery clean.

2. Ensure that the electrolyte has high purity. When preparing electrolyte and adding distilled water, strictly prevent impurities from entering.

3. Yuasa  battery shall be charged frequently during storage to keep the electrolyte density uniform and prevent the liquid level from falling.

4. When washing the surface of Yuasa  battery, prevent sewage from entering the interior of Yuasa  Yuasa battery from the filler cover or vent.

5. If the diaphragm and plate are damaged, they shall be repaired or replaced in time.

6. When changing the electrolyte, be sure to remove the residual liquid in the battery.
